Applied Kinesiology – What Is It & Why Is It Real Healthcare Reform?

Your body is an incredibly smart system. We hear people say, if you give the body what it needs, it will do what you need it to do for you. We happen to agree with this.

During the 1960’s there was a new system of evaluation that started in the world of chiropractic. It is called applied kinesiology. Dr. George Goodheart of Detroit, Michigan found that evaluation of normal and abnormal body function could be accomplished through muscle testing.

In the last 50 years, this testing has widened to now include the following areas:

  • Nervous system
  • Endocrine system
  • Nutritional status
  • Toxicity levels
  • Cranial and sacral rhythm
  • Vascular system
  • Meridian channels
  • Mental or emotional stress
  • Lymphatic system

So what does this mean for you the patient? When you go to an applied kinesiology chiropractor, they will take a whole body approach with an understanding that you are much more than a spine only. After having an opportunity to discuss all of your health concerns in a consultation with the doctor you will be evaluated with your specific needs in mind. A thorough examination will include both the standard orthopedic and neurological evaluation methods along with various muscle testing procedures to reveal clues to the root cause of your problem. Some muscles will test strong while others will be in a weakened state. The weaknesses are then traced back to the underlying problem which could be in the nerve, surrounding structure, associated organs, nutritional deficiency or meridian imbalance.

Once the doctor discovers the controlling factor that is causing imbalance, they can treat the body so it can turn back to a normal health status.

So how can this type of care be called real healthcare reform? This type of care let’s both the doctor and patient be guided by the body. The body is the measurement tool. It will tell you when you are OK and when you are not. This is just another way of listening to what your body needs. What most people find when using applied kinesiology or seeing a professional who uses this style of healing, is that the root cause can be more easily identified and treated than most methods in the market.

If you know someone that has a continual problem in their body, or is just not feeling good now, perhaps applied kinesiology could offer them some immediate and perhaps permanent relief to what ails them.

In good health,

Dr. Craig, Dr. Scott and Dr. Ryan
